The Own Goal Challenge: UPDATED

8 02 2007

We’ve all witnessed some cracking goals in our time, but what of those strikes that the scorers would rather forget? Cast your mind back to the greatest own goals you’ve ever seen or know off, and with the aid of Youtube, share them.

A snippet of news

8 02 2007

Hello loyal browsers. Some time soon we are going to be moving and relaunching the site with what you technies might call ‘Blog FM 2.0′. The fantastic people at the FootyGamer Network have somehow decided that they would like us to join them, and so once the new site is all set up and running, we’ll be upping sticks and moving to the FGN. The new site will carry a brand new look and some new features, with the style of the website changing a little to a more helpful and productive website, as well as various scene and game articles. Lastly, we’ve been mentioned on the official SIGames Community Review thingy for the month of January, which is nice. The review seems more indepth this month than previously, although that may have something to do with the mysterious ‘XXX’ author from the FM Portal…(and no, that’s not me!) http://www.footballmanager.net/en/article/21/1433.html. If you have any ideas or thoughts about Blog FM 2.0, post them in the forums!

Blog FM (heart) FootyGamer

29 01 2007

For those of you in a debating mood, you may be happy to discover that Blog FM has shacked up with the always superb FootyGamer as both sites look to increase their affiliations. After asking my board for a parent club, FootyGamer duly delivered, and as such you can now find an official Blog FM forum right here. Sign up for the FootyGamer forums and start discussing the game, the scene and life, and pop into the Blog FM area to discuss this very website.

The End of Blog FM

26 01 2007

For this week, anway. Ooh, did I get you worrying then? Sure I did. Blog FM will be back with you on Sunday, so I thought I’d bring a couple of old articles to your attention. They were written way back in December, but with the launch of the Football Manager WordPress Community, perhaps a few people might be interested in reading these.

WordPress Community Forum

16 01 2007

You know me and my crazy ideas. I’ve tried (And, often, failed) to launch a few features on this website, and today see’s the arrival of another of my brainwaves: a forum based on the WordPress software!

Launching the Player Database Blog

13 12 2006

Blog FM is in the process of creating a Player Database Blog which will incorporate all of the popular player lists of the web with the unique blog-theme style of the Blog FM website. The feature is still in development, but we need your help in building up the database.

BlogForum

5 12 2006

Normally, in the past, I have steered away from opening my own forums, but I’ve now decided: what the heck. Today see’s the arrival of the Blog FM forum, a place which is aiming to continue the website in a more discussion-based environment. I don’t intend the forums to become some sort of haven for gamers – I know there are plenty of FM forums open already. But if you fancy spending a couple of minutes registering, then you’ll be all set to post away at any point in the future should we launch any forum-related features! (Hint hint?) Continuing the ‘look how easy it is to have your own site for free’ theme, the forums are hosted on Invision for nowt, although you do have to contend with a not too intrusive banner ad. Take a look at the forums at http://z8.invisionfree.com/blogfm/index.php

Presenting FM Bloggers

30 11 2006

The internet is so simple that anyone can have their own website today. That is the general view of the population (according to my own survey of asking myself, anywho…). But when it comes to setting up a website, updating it and attracting readers, things can get a little bit more difficult. Our latest venture, released today, may just help those budding bloggers out there who feel that they wouldn’t do their own blog justice.

FM Bloggers is a new site that has launched this morning (Thursday 30th November). The basic premise is simple: the site provides a single place for Football Manager gamers to post their opinions on the title, football itself and the FM Scene. It doesn’t cost a penny to become a writer, and unlike running your own scene, there are few expectations required.

If you have always fancied yourself as a bit of a writer but don’t want the burden of running a site, then this is the perfect opportunity for you to get into the scene. All that is required is that you request a username – and post! Post as often as you want and with your own unique style. Posts will not be edited (save for reasons that may lead to the police being called) and by using a ‘labels’ system, readers will be able to skip to their favourite reader at the click of a button.

I urge you to visit the site and sign up. I myself will post some blogs here rather than posting them on Blog FM – so you’ll have to visit just to see them! It will not cost you anything to sign up – not even any time – so visit today to become part of the scene.

Changes Afoot

28 11 2006

Blog FM is undergoing a mini make-over at the moment. In an attempt to make the site more ordered and styled a few things are changing. I have decided to take the ‘quality over quantity’ decision, and as such they will be some cut backs from the website. However, the Blog FM v.2 should be a much more enjoyable read.

Jose - He would like itThe revamped website will offer a new, more professional style. Some of my favourite sites on the scene have always been those that offer a jolly good read. I feel that Blog FM has plenty to offer on this front, and as such the website will be looking to move towards a more writing-based site than before.

Despite being successful (in terms of hits, these were quite popular) I have decided to stop doing the daily updates. These were quite time consuming and didn’t offer that much to the website, I feel. If you really did enjoy reading the various articles that were mentioned, I would recommend taking a look back at previous editions and visiting those websites on a daily basis.

Features such as league and club guides will be staying, although hopefully in more detail. Football Management stories will also be appearing, as will the recent Question of the Week feature that was launched last week. This may be extended to a fortnightly event, however, to encourage more responses.

I will shortly be starting a Story game on Football Manager 2007 with Premiership newcomers Reading F.C. The first part to this will be online by the weekend, should all go to plan. On top of this, over the next few days they should be some more articles on both the scene and the game itself, plus an updated and reviewed scene links section.

The new look – incase you hadn’t noticed – has been chosen to give the site a cleaner and fresh look. The old design was very nice, but a little too cluttered in places for my liking. The new look should, if it hasn’t already, grow on your pretty soon. Hopefully.

Many Apologies

28 11 2006

Welcome to Blog FM. We are currently undergoing a few minor changes (well, major really – design, content, etc). The site should be up and running by Wednesday with more content and we are taking a more professional approach to the website.

Reflections

22 11 2006

Blog FM has now been online for four days – not very long, granted – and so today I bring you a short but sweet article looking at a few points regarding the site.
