Royals get Toffee’s in cup and concern for star midfielder

League Cup Fourth Round Draw

Reading’s reward for the 1-0 victory over Bolton see’s them travelling to Everton on the 8th of November for the 4th Round of the League Cup. After having already secured a win against the Toffee’s in the league this season, the Royals will be hoping for another victory to send them into quarter finals! However, after a 3-0 victory against Sheffield Wednesday, David Moyes’ side will be hoping to extract revenge for that early season defeat. Tickets are available now – contact the club shop for more details.

Star midfielder in injury set back

American youngster Freddy Adu was taken off during the Bolton game ‘as a precaution’ following a nasty challenge with Nicolas Anelka. Adu, who has just returned to action following a bruised shin injury, will sit out the next few days of training, and is likely to miss the trip to the Reebox Stadium next Monday. Royal’s assistant Kevin Dillon spoke to the website:

“We’re just a little concerned for him,” he revealed. “He’s still very young, and an injury set back is the last thing that we and the player need. I should imagine that he’ll be back very soon though.”

Attacking Midfielder linked with club

Reading have confirmed their interest in Belarus international Vyacheslav Hleb, brother of Arsenal star Aliaksandr. The Royals have submitted an offer of £275,000 for the attacking midfielder. Hleb, 23, has been in great form for MTZ-Ripo this season, contributing with 9 goals in 14 games. With the Reading manager admitting that his side will need some strengthening in the January transfer window, Hleb would be a great addition to the club.

Explosive clash with Liverpool up next at home

After tomorrow’s clash with Bolton in the Premiership, Reading will next be back at the Madejski Stadium on Sunday 5th of November as Liverpool make the trip down South. The Reds have had a patchy season so far, and despite hope for a good start, find themselves outside of the top four. Tickets are available from Tuesday for this game, which is sure to be a cracker!
